Mentor Graphics HDL Designer Series 2001.5 Enhances Team Design with HTML Documentation
WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2001--Mentor Graphics
Corporation (NASDAQ:MENT) today announced the availability of the HDL
Designer Series(TM) 2001.5 product, the latest version of the
industry's leading design creation and management tool suite.
HDL Designer Series 2001.5 offers new features that increase team
design capabilities, including support for advanced HTML export
documentation and C/C++ viewing capability. Designers using HDL
Designer Series 2001.5 can visualize and manage complex designs more
efficiently, reducing the design cycle for development of application
specific integrated circuits (ASICs), field programmable gate arrays
(FPGAs) and Systems-on-Chips.
Importance of Shared Design Documentation
As more global design teams collaborate over the Internet, sharing
design documentation becomes a critical element in the design process.
Using HTML documentation, designers can share and publish designs on a
corporate Intranet, allowing team members in multiple locations to
view design data over a secure backbone. In addition, HTML export can
be viewed on any browser, allowing designers to copy and share
information with customers and partners. HDL Designer Series 2001.5
provides an option that enables designers to control the material that
is viewed over public networks.
``With the advent and continued acceleration of multi-million gate
devices, design reuse has become an increasingly important element for
our design teams,'' said Shawn Young, vice president of engineering,
Linx Electronics. ``Using the sophisticated features found in HDL
Designer Series, our design team, regardless of where members are
based, can work together in an efficient manner to manage and design
market-competitive devices.''
New Language Capabilities Enhance Design Management
HDL Designer Series 2001.5 also offers enhanced visibility and
design management features, including new C/C++ language support.
Designers can view C/C++ and Mixed HDL/C/C++ code within 2001.5,
manage it as part of the design data and provide additional support
for the ModelSim simulation tool, which offers C/C++ capabilities. In
addition, Mentor has added several other features to HDS 2001.5
including:
-- Expanded platform support for Linux
-- Improved properties/attributes in design creation
-- New Junctions and Rippers for BUS description
-- Improved Block Diagram place & route
``Mentor Graphics continues to focus on meeting HDL Designers
Series customer needs,'' said Valerie Rachko, marketing director for
HDL Designer Series. ``The new features found in HDL Designer Series
2001.5 further strengthen the team design and design management
capabilities, allowing for a flexible, easy-to-use cockpit to address
design requirements.''
